recent press:

“AWM is the least pretentious wine bar in the city (or just about anywhere)….”
– Hal B. Klein, Pittsburgh Magazine

"The Allegheny Wine Mixer’s charm is its atmosphere -- part cozy living room, part chic art gallery -- and its lengthy … selection of imported and domestic wines, along with sparkling wines (tip: ask for a splash of limoncello in your bubbly) sold by the glass and by the bottle.
– Rosilynne S. Culgan,, "The 12 Most Essential Bars in Pittsburgh"

“With wines this good, it could be snobby. But it's got a dive bar appeal. And good food.”
– Bar Rescue Hall of Fame, Foursquare

Do you take reservations?

We do not. Seating is first come, first serve.

Are you good for groups?

Our bar is a small, intimate space that fills up quickly, especially on weekends. We may not be the best choice for large groups. And, please, no party buses.

Is AWM available to host private events?

Yes, for groups of 40 or fewer. If interested in booking a private event please email or call 412.252.2337.

Can AWM serve wine at my reception/pop-up/opening/etc.?

Yes, we can! Please contact Jamie directly at for off-site or catering inquiries.

Is AWM kid friendly?

Not particularly. Our bar was really designed with those 21 or older in mind.

Did you really name your bar after the Catalina Wine Mixer scene in Stepbrothers?

Pow-pow! And, yes, that is Randy Jackson’s signature on the samurai sword above the bar.
